Will you provide transportation?
We will provide transportation to as many students as we can. You must call the school to find out eligibility.
The public school district in which the school resides is supposed to provide (by law) transportation for our students. Each public school district’s rules may vary somewhat. However, a typical scenario would be: Your child must live at least 2 miles away from the School but within the local school district, and within a 30 minute travel time, from the School.
Are your teachers certified?
YES! All of our full-time teachers are state certified.
What is the teacher/student ratio?
We will have up to 25-30 students in each classroom. In addition, there will be a teacher assistant in each classroom of 25-30 students and an individualized computer curriculum for each student for our computer lab. There is a 1:10 ratio of computers to students.
What curriculum will you use?
We are using a curriculum developed by a highly qualified curriculum developer. The curriculum meets and exceeds all state standards. It includes Harcourt Trophies for Reading, Math, Science and Social Studies.
What makes your school different than the “public school”?
Since we are not part of the local public school district, the Lion of Judah Academy will operate according to its own educational program, conduct rules, schedules, timetables, etc. Our classrooms will have a certified teacher, a teacher assistant and computer aided instruction. We also feature innovative technology such as the Promethean Activboard. We also feature ONLINE PROGRESS REPORTS to check on your students 24/7! All you as a parent or legal guardian needs in access to the internet (which you can get at a public library once you register!). This allows for whole-class teacher-lead instruction, as well as small group and individualized instruction.
What is a "Community School"?
Ohio Revised Code Chapter 3314 established Community Schools in Ohio. Community Schools are parallel in concept to charter schools in other states. A Community School is a public school and part of the state educational system, but is independent of any public school district. It is governed through a contract between the school’s governing authority and a sponsor. The school’s governing authority is a non-profit corporation. The sponsor is the State Board of Education. Any person or group may propose the establishment of a Community School to a prospective sponsor. Community Schools can be established either by converting all or part of an existing public school or by starting an entirely new school. The State Board of Education may sponsor a start-up Community School located in Ohio’s “Urban Twenty-One” district and/or any district in an “academic emergency.”
